Non-Surgical Skin Rejuvenation

Part of the ageing process is that our skin progressively loses elasticity developing lines or wrinkles due to sun exposure, gravity and as a direct result of facial muscle action on the skin. What can we do about this?

Injectable Fillers

Injectable fillers are a popular treatment for smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles and are administered by way of a simple injection treatment, for which no anaesthetic is required. There are many 'fillers' available and in some cases it may be recommended that a combination of fillers is used to treat or improve a particular condition. Some fillers require a skin test prior to treatment to ensure that you have allergy to the product but in the last few years various products have become available which avoid the necessity for such an allergy test.

After treatment there are usually no visible effects and patients could therefore go straight back to work or to a social engagement. The areas best treated with these products are:

  • Forehead lines - horizontal frown lines

  • Glabellar lines - vertical frown lines between the eyebrows

  • Crows' feet or laughter lines - radiating away from the eyes

  • Naso-labial lines - furrows running between the nose and mouth

  • Marionette lines - lines running down from the corners of the mouth

  • Lips - creating a fuller more defined shape and helping to minimise the 'lipstick lines'

  • Facial scars - either from old injuries or acne scarring

  • Cheeks - to add fullness especially following illness

You would be advised at your consultation with our dermatologist or aesthetic doctor as to which product is the most suitable to meet your requirements. At that time you will also be advised as to how long lasting the treatment is, as this differs from patient to patient and whether or not you need a 'package' of treatments to achieve the result you desire.

Intense Pulsed Light Treatments

Recent technology has produced an intense pulsed light system offering a fast and virtually painless solution for various problems including the removal of unwanted hair and some unsightly veins as well as the treatment of a variety of skin conditions.

The treatments are non-invasive (no needles!), no local anaesthesia is required, most people tolerate the treatment well (each pulse feels like a slight sting or pinch) and immediately following treatment you can resume all regular activities although limiting exposure to the sun will minimise the risk of complications.

For each procedure, a customised treatment program will be designed and you will be provided with an estimate of how many treatments may be required in order to meet your expectations.

Muscle Relaxant Injections

Muscle Relaxant Injections now commonly referred to as 'BOTOX™' are one of the simplest most effective ways to improve facial wrinkles. Many have been caused by repeated frowning or squinting which can be habit forming, so much so that these lines become a permanent feature.

The ideal areas to be treated with this product are:

1. Forehead lines - horizontal frown lines

2. Under arms - to prevent excessive sweating

3. Glabellar lines - vertical frown lines between the eyebrows

4. Crows' feet or laughter lines - radiating away from the eyes

Most people find that the injections cause only mild, temporary discomfort which can be minimised by using a cool pack prior to treatment. The treatment time depends upon the areas being treated and repeat treatments are initially required every 3- 4 months although after 2 or 3 treatments over a 12-month period, the lines become significantly reduced and time period between treatments becomes greater.

Consultation & Assessment

Before embarking on any course of treatments, a consultation and assessment is required in order that your requirements are fully discussed and the potential outcome is explained to you.
