Intense Pulsed Light Treatments

Recent technology has produced an intense pulsed light system offering a fast and virtually painless solution for various problems including the removal of unwanted hair and some unsightly veins as well as the treatment of a variety of skin conditions.

The treatments are non-invasive (no needles!), no local anaesthesia is required, most people tolerate the treatment well (each pulse feels like a slight sting or pinch) and immediately following treatment you can resume all regular activities although limiting exposure to the sun will minimise the risk of complications.

For each procedure, a customised treatment program will be designed and you will be provided with an estimate of how many treatments may be required in order to meet your expectations.

Hair Removal

For many years we have been in search for an effective hair removal system. Intense Light Treatments have been proven to treat unwanted hair safely on any skin type from very fair to very dark, and on any area of the face and body leaving the skin feeling clean and smooth.

The treatment time taken depends on the size of the area being treated and this will be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.

The Treatment

• The hair above the skin is trimmed
  
  
• A cold gel is applied to the treatment area
  
  
• You may be asked to wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light.
  
  
• Parameters are set to ensure effective hair removal and skin safety.
  
  
• The handheld treatment system is applied to the skin and the hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin selectively absorb highly controlled flashes of light. This safely heats and disables the growing hair root without damaging the surrounding tissue.
  
  
• As the gel is removed, much of the hair is wiped away with it and the remaining disabled hairs will shed naturally over the next 2 weeks.
